Monostoppers

The primary functions of monostoppers are:

  • To regulate the flow of steel from the tundish into the mould
  • To maximize casting time by controlled purging with inert gas (argon)
  • To ensure clean ending of casting process by complete closing at the end of the casting sequence

Refcer monostoppers have superb resistance to thermal shock and erosion once in contact with steel, cover powder or slag. To ensure optimum casting performance in billet, bloom and slab operations by our customers, an extensive choice of material grades, stopper nose reinforcements and argon purging variants are available.
