Tundish Metering Nozzles
Refcer offers a comprehensive range of composite metering nozzles used for the continuous casting of steel. The composite nozzles are manufactured using a zirconia insert and pressed high alumina outer body, with no cement jointing, to minimize the risk of molten steel leakage between the insert and outer body.
Refcer ZMN Metering Nozzles
Refcer ZMN series of zirconia nozzles are high performance refractory products with excellent erosion and corrosion resistance even in the most severe casting conditions. Numerous application cases showed that they are well accepted by our customers for their continuous casting processes, with proven extended casting sequences, consistent casting speeds, as well as good cost-performance ratio.
Exchangeable Metering Nozzles
Refcer is closely involved with the development of nozzle changer systems in conjunction with both system manufacturers and steel plants. Technically, exchangeable metering nozzles consist two parts, the upper (inner) nozzles and the exchangeable lower nozzles.
The upper nozzles are stationarily located within the tundish lining and convey molten steel to the exchangeable lower nozzles. To ensure a desired service life of the holistic exchangeable refractory system, the upper nozzles must be capable of withstanding long sequence times.
Refcer upper nozzles can be supplied with following options,
- Chemically bonded bauxite or alumina outer bodies
- High alumina castables
- Zirconia
The exchangeable lower nozzles are located within an assembly that is fixed to the bottom of the tundish. The nozzles are driven by a hydraulic cylinder. This action can be completed with no disturbance or deviation to the steel stream.
Refractory or metal blanks can also be used in systems for emergency shut off.
The design of the exchangeable nozzles can vary according to the system manufacturers. The dominant tundish nozzle changer systems for which Refcer is offering the refractory products include, MNC(Interstop), CNC/SYS120(Vesuvius), CNM (Concast), FNC(Danieli), OTNC (Krosaki). And tailor-made refractory products for other systems are possible upon special requests.
